The AMAZING Great Hall, this is just the entry way to the Metropolitan Museum of Art!
This was in the Egyptian collection, it dates back to about 2400 B.C.
The Museum was absolutely, overwhelmingly large. There is no way you could hope to cover all the exhibits in a day. It was incredible, they had some areas with rooms and rooms of artifacts just on shelves behind glass cases, halls and halls of pieces just stuck in there because of lack of space to prominently display them... that's why the Abraham Lincoln bust and those paintings are behind glass; they were just being stored in the American Art Wing.
Ugolino and his Children. Notice the artist's rendition of it in the collage below.

From the Inca/Mayan period. Around the year 200-300 A.D.
By the time we got to the modern art, I was feeling so tired I could fall over, hence the silly pose... It's so incredible to be standing right next to these pieces and realize, they are the ORIGINALS! Mind blowing, really.
Mr. Vincent Van Gogh, self portrait...
