Fishing with Grandpa

Grandpa Ladd is so good to take the kids fishing almost whenever they say the word. This day we ventured to Fernan Lake and took Grandpa's fishing boat with us.

Although scenic this picture may appear, we were being towed back to the dock by some good Samaritans out on the lake. We couldn't get Grandpa's little fishing boat to re-start. The problem ended up being some little electrical issue but it sure made for a memorable experience and a faith building one at that. The kids reminded us to pray that someone would come help us - and they did! So it all turned out just fine, and we had a lazy boat ride all the way back.

Once we were back at the dock, the girls seemed to have great luck. Reese, however, didn't fare so well. As seen on his slightly more than disappointed face. It was partly my fault. At one point Reese had what seemed like quite a whopper on the line. Then I, in my absent-mindedness, tried to get the fish up onto the doc by pulling the line with my hand. Bad idea. This, I now know; causes the line to snap. So Reese, really did have a great "one that got away" story to tell. All thanks to me! Life lessons learned on all accounts.

Another plus to getting towed back? Captain Elle can answer that question.

Beautiful place, good time. Thank you Grandpa, we love you!
